Job Description
An artist with the ability to produce photo-real or stylized output/passes according to the creative need of the element. The artist should be able to deliver shots as per the expectations under an intense production environment and to keep a consistent look and quality throughout a sequence.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Report to VFX Supervisor and Virtual Production Supervisors to develop realistic lighting solutions in different projects in various styles (feature film, commercial, animation…)
2. Help guide the look and feel of lighting for each project
3. Perform look development of CG assets and characters
4. Help deliver solutions on integrating lighting setups into the existing pipelines
5. Offer creative or technical solutions to problems where necessary
6. Propose and optimize both development and production workflows for creation of CGI assets, shaders, lighting, and post-production details
7. Partner with all departments and support production requirements for real-time workflow in Maya and Unreal Engine environment
Qualifications
Skills and Experience
1. Proficient and familiar with software: Maya, Substance, 3Dmax, Blender, Zbrush, Mari, Photoshop and render engine in Maya, 3Dmax or Blender (Vray, Arnold, Redshift…)
2. Great communication skills and ability to work constructively with other departments to solve production and technical challenges
3. Shaders: in-depth knowledge of real-time shader implementations, limitations of shaders & workarounds
4. Strong understanding of Lighting, Texturing, Look Development, Rendering and Comp
5. Assets: experienced in the development, creating and organizing efficient assets in Maya and in UE editors
6. Deep understanding of path tracer and lumen
7. Practical experience in live-action cinematography and photography
8. Overall artistic eye with a deep understanding of traditional principles such as surface properties, color harmony, and visual balance
9. Ability to composite photos & create photo-real textures
10. Scripting experience a plus – Python & Mel
11. Experience with in-engine lighting techniques and solutions (Unreal, Unity)
12. Excellent artistic skills, with a strong emphasis on real-world lighting/photography
13. English or Japanese Language Proficiency a must
