South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust (STSFT) provides acute and community healthcare services to a core population of over 430,000 people living in and around the borough of South Tyneside and the City of Sunderland, as well as thousands of people from Durham who regularly use our services. We also provide a number of community and other services to the Gateshead population.

To support the achievement of our objectives, we are currently looking for a highly performing Divisional Director to provide strategic leadership to a division within the Trust.
This is an opportunity to work at the most senior level of operational delivery and strategy, directing your division and working alongside colleagues in similar roles to ensure excellent and sustainable care for our patients.
Main duties of the job
A leader with a passion for improving patient care, you will work with your Divisional Leadership Team, Trust Senior Management Team, and other Divisional teams to ensure optimal quality, performance, and service delivery. You will have the opportunity to shape the development of services in your Division and the wider health and social care system.
You will be future-focused, leading the development of the division's strategic and annual plans, to lead the delivery of excellent patient care. You will have accountability for leading quality improvement for the Division, encouraging staff contribution to innovation, and tracking the delivery of efficiency benefits.

You will be a senior operational manager with significant experience in the NHS and across a range of specialties. You will have highly developed leadership skills, be able to build successful teams, and have an ability to work in true collaboration both within STSFT and outside to deliver the best care for our patients. You will be business-focused, sensitive to clinical and political demands, with the ability to cut through barriers to change. With skills in the analysis of data, you will be confident in articulating business cases and presenting arguments for change.

Job responsibilities
* Be responsible and accountable for the efficient and effective management of the total resources of the Division.
* Provide strategic leadership to the Division whilst maintaining a close focus on operational detail, providing effective communication and engagement.
* Support the Director of Operations for the delivery of the Trust-wide transformation agenda and work with commissioners about service developments and clinical care pathways.
* Be responsible for quality and financial performance of the Division and for driving through clinical efficiencies and continuous improvement. Agree and work within an annual budget for income and expenditure, including efficiency / CIP requirements.
* Ensure that each Directorate in the Division delivers against specific performance targets and discharge the accountability to Clinical Directors and Directorate Managers.
* Work in close partnership with the Clinical Director to ensure professional performance and clinical activity is effectively managed and services are developed appropriately.
* Contribute to the strategic direction and policy setting process of the Trust.

Qualifications

* Travel between sites and off-site meetings as required
* Ability to work flexible hours and fulfil the commitment of operational command role as well as support for major incidents
* Able to participate in an on-call rota
