Job Description: Practice Nurse Location: Whittlesey, UK Job Type: Full-Time/Part-Time Salary: Competitive, based on experience An experienced Practice Nurse is needed to deliver and uphold a high standard of nursing care for patients in Whittlesey. This role involves working collaboratively with doctors and other healthcare team members to support various activities within the framework of general practice, the treatment room, and the nursing competency matrix. Experience in childhood immunisations, cervical screening, complex wound care, and spirometry is preferred. Main Duties Assist in and perform routine patient care tasks as directed by the Lead Nurse and GPs. Maintain best practices related to prescribing, if qualified. Follow practice policies for audits and clinical reviews. Support GPs with minor surgeries and coil fittings, as needed. Conduct cervical smears, pregnancy tests, and offer contraceptive advice. Participate in chronic disease management, where appropriate to skills. Administer routine vaccinations, including influenza, pneumococcal, and shingles. Provide infant immunisations and vaccinations. Offer travel health care advice and related immunisations. Perform ECGs. Deliver wound care and ulcer management. Remove sutures. Conduct venepuncture and urinalysis. Review and act on pathology tests, such as urine cultures and swabs, as appropriate. Chaperone and assist patients during examinations by other clinicians when necessary. Maintain a tidy and clean environment in nursing and treatment rooms. Ensure accurate and up-to-date record-keeping. Order medications, supplies, and vaccinations to maintain stock levels. Meet all health and safety and infection control standards, reporting any concerns to the nurse manager. Engage in annual appraisals and maintain a professional development plan, including an updated portfolio that meets UKCC registration requirements. Hold current registration with the NMC. Adhere to the UKCC Code of Conduct and practice within the professional scope.
