UHMBT are excited to announce a fantastic opportunity to apply for a newly created acute consultant paediatrician vacancy based at Furness General Hospital, on the doorstep of the Lake District, England's largest National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We are seeking dynamic, motivated and ambitious individuals who will enhance our established and expanding team of consultant paediatricians. You will play a vital role in the delivery of healthcare for Children and Young People across the Morecambe Bay Footprint with the ability to work independently, but within a supportive, forward thinking and collaborative team.
An area of special interest to complement those already available in the Department is welcomed and can be discussed. We are particularly interested in candidates with an interest in Undergraduate Education or Safeguarding but would support the pursuit of a SPIN module in another speciality as appropriate if required.
Main duties of the job
Furness General Hospital provides a 1:7 on-call to the acute paediatric services including the Special Care Baby Unit where we operate a consultant of the week model.

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical Care units and various Consultant-led services.

Person specification
* Full GMC with a licence to practice and entry on Specialist Register or in the receipt of CCT within six months of interview
* Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (or equivalent)
* Completed Specialist Training (or equivalent)
* Completed and up to date with APLS/NLS (or equivalent) and level 3 Child Protection Training
* Acute and non-acute paediatric problems, including medical, surgical, child protection, resuscitation, and neonatal care
* Proven experience in clinical audit
* Experience of clinical supervision of juniors and relevant staff in other disciplines
* Recent active involvement in delivery of Medical Education and multi professional training
* Ability to communicate and liaise effectively with patients, their parents and other relatives and with colleagues in all disciplines
* Able to travel to meet the requirements of the post
* Evidence of attendance at appropriate professional meetings and courses/ meeting requirements of CPD
* Clinical supervision skills training
* Previous participation in a management role
* Evidence of the development of leadership skills within the work environment
* Completion of Educational Supervision training
