An exciting opportunity has arisen in the School of Journalism, Media and Culture for an AI and Digital Media Production Senior Lecturer (Teaching and Scholarship).
You will develop the teaching provision of the School and University in the field of AI and Digital Media Production, delivering high-quality research-led teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. You will pursue excellence in teaching and pedagogy and inspire others to do the same.

Salary: £60,907 - £66,537 per annum (Grade 8)

Job Description
Teaching
* To identify and lead opportunities for curriculum innovations and enhancements, including;
* initiating and implementing new modules and programmes in the field of Digital Media production, with a close focus on the use of AI in media
* developing the structure of existing modules and programmes and evaluating the impact of innovations as appropriate
* conducting a programme of evaluation and research to assess the quality and impact of the current teaching and to make a significant contribution to the international development of such teaching
* Review on a regular basis course content and materials, updating when required
* To act as course director for MA AI and Digital Media Production, module leader and personal tutor – ensuring delivery of teaching in line with current curricular requirements, developing and applying innovative and appropriate teaching techniques and material which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students
* To undertake work associated with examinations, such as setting and marking assessments and providing student feedback
* To act as a Personal Tutor and provide pastoral support to students, including supervising the work of Undergraduate and Master’s students, the co-supervision of PGR’s and acting as a PGR progress review panel member as required
Scholarship
* To undertake and lead educational research, pedagogical evaluation and scholarly activity, leading to publications in high quality professional and scholarly journals
* To participate in national and international conferences, seminars and other academic and professional forums to disseminate the results of one’s own scholarship
Leadership
* To provide academic leadership by co-ordinating the work of others to ensure areas of degree courses are organised and delivered effectively
* To be involved in the departmental level strategic planning and contribute to wider strategic planning processes in the University
* To provide opportunities for staff development aimed at improving skills and knowledge in learning and teaching pedagogy, assessment and feedback
Other
* To undertake and lead operational administrative responsibilities as requested by Head of School and senior management team
* To engage effectively with industrial, commercial and public sector organisations, professional institutions, other academic institutions etc., regionally and nationally and internationally to raise awareness of the School’s profile, to cultivate strategically valuable alliances, and to pursue opportunities for collaboration across a range of activities. These activities are expected to contribute to the School and the enhancement of its regional, national, and international profile

Person Specification
Essential Criteria
Qualifications and Education
* Postgraduate degree at PhD level in a related subject area and/or relevant and extensive industrial experience at a senior level in digital media as a content creator, producer or executive
* Postgraduate Certificate in University Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification or willingness to achieve such a qualification within two years of appointment
Knowledge, Skills And Experience
* Substantial teaching experience at undergraduate/postgraduate level, demonstrating teaching innovation and course development and design, or substantial experience in industry training
* Established national and growing international reputation within the field of digital media
* Ability to design, deliver and continuously develop modules across the Schools teaching programmes, contributing to the educational development of the University
Pastoral, Communication and Team Working
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to disseminate complex and conceptual ideas clearly and confidently to others using high level skills and a range of media
* The ability to provide appropriate pastoral support to students, appreciate the needs of individual students and their circumstances and to act as a personal tutor.
* Proven record of academic or industrial leadership

* Proven ability to demonstrate creativity, innovation and teamworking within work
Desirable Criteria
* Relevant professional qualification(s).
* Evidence of collaborations with industry.
* Proven ability to adapt to the changing requirements of the Higher Education community.
* Evidence of ability to participate in and develop both internal and external networks and utilise them to enhance the teaching and research activities of the School.
