Are you a railway systems professional with proficiency in the railway interoperability & CSM application and ready to join one of the largest train operators in the country?
We are looking for a Rail Systems and Safety Manager to ensure Northern projects are being delivered safely and in compliance with the relevant statutory obligations.
In this role, you will provide specialist technical guidance to project teams, ensuring compliance with system engineering and safety regulations.

What you’ll be doing:
1. Advise project teams to ensure compliance with statutory obligations under the ROGS, CSM-RA, and other relevant regulations.
2. Manage and work collaboratively with the Assessing Body (AsBo)/Approved Body (ApBo) to achieve required authorisations under ROGS and the Railways (Interoperability) Regulations 2011.
3. Work closely with external contractors, designers, and internal teams to ensure compliance and promote a safe working environment.
4. Guide Project Managers when managing the production of safe designs for construction, operation, and maintenance.
5. Attend, input and where applicable facilitate design development reviews, IDCs, IDRs, HAZIDs to ensure robust risk management process is being adhered to and suitable mitigations identified.
About You:
1. Rail experience is essential with a background in design, system, or site management.
2. Degree-level qualification in a relevant field (e.g., BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc or similar) and chartered status (or near to achieving) with a recognised institution.
3. Appreciation of engineering principles in own field (such as within civil engineering) and experience working in a multidisciplinary environment.
4. Proficiency at producing or involvement in production of CSM-RA compliant system safety plans.
5. The role requires sufficient knowledge of CDM regulations and background in participating in producing hazard records to ensure productive involvement in HAZID & HAZOP sessions.
