Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Deputy Manager/Assessing Social Worker to join our team. This role is essential in supporting the manager, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for both staff, families, and their children.
You will be working closely with the Centre's Registered Manager and Family Support Workers.
The working hours for this role are Monday-Friday 8am - 4pm (times may vary to meet the needs of our families and their children, with on-call duties).
Responsibilities
* Support the Centre Manager in the day-to-day running of the family assessment centre.
* Complete parenting assessments following the parent assess model as the assessing social worker.
* Assist in the supervision, training, and development of family support workers.
* Conduct regular staff meetings and provide guidance and support to team members.
* Monitor and maintain high standards of care, support, and record-keeping.
* Liaise with social services, local authorities, and other relevant professionals.
* Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies, procedures, and legislation.
* Assist in the development and implementation of centre policies and procedures.
* Oversee the maintenance of a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained centre environment.
* Promote diversity, equality, and anti-discriminatory practice within the centre.
* Deputise for the Centre Manager in their absence, ensuring smooth operation of the centre.
* Participate in the on-call rota to provide out-of-hours support when required.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of service delivery and family outcomes.
Experience
* Qualified Social Worker.
* At least 2 years minimum working in a Safeguarding team; preferred at least 3 years' experience in a residential family support setting, with at least 1 year in a senior or supervisory role.
* Strong understanding of child protection, safeguarding, and relevant legislation.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Proven ability to mentor, motivate, and develop staff.
* Resilience, empathy, and the ability to manage complex and challenging situations.
* Strong organisational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Proficient in record-keeping, report writing, and IT skills.
* Flexible approach to work, including the ability to work shifts and on-call duties.
Qualifications
* Essential: Social Work Degree.
* Willing to work towards their level 5 once established in the role.
