This is a fantastic opportunity for enthusiastic and dedicated Outreach Officers who are looking for a new challenge and have a flexible approach to work with a team of committed professionals in and out of Kingsland School. Purpose of the Post: The purpose of the post is to work within the context of a team of professionals who will provide outreach support from Kingsland School to identified participating mainstream Secondary Schools. The Post holders will help raise the standards of behaviour and learning for identified pupils. They will also support schools through training, developing and implementation of systems to support behaviour management in a staged process, resulting in the overall reduction in permanent exclusions across the authority. The key responsibilities are to take an active role in supporting mainstream schools with the assessment of the most challenging and at-risk pupils, especially those deemed to be at risk of permanent exclusion. The job purpose is to support the Service Manager to deliver an effective co-ordinated response for the pupils who are deemed vulnerable and/or have complex needs. Requirements of the Post: We are looking for people who relish a challenge and who genuinely want to contribute to the lives of young people. This role involves assessment, providing advice and strategies to build the capacity of secondary mainstream schools to manage and support those pupils at risk of permanent exclusion. This is implemented through a staged programme and strategic approaches. Main Duties: The suitable candidates will be able to: Assess the needs of the pupils using detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support learning and behaviour both inside and outside of the classroom. Establish productive working relationships with pupils acting as a role model and setting high expectations. Establish constructive relationships and communicating with other agencies / professionals to support the achievements and progress for pupils. To present accurate written reports when appropriate and assist in the training and development of staff. Supervise teaching assistants and hold regular team meetings with staff promoting new developments. To identify, assess and support schools and academies on strategies to promote positive behaviour. Undertake observations and provide accurate feedback with follow up implementation and monitoring. To prepare for, attend and actively contribute to a wide range of meetings. About Kingsland School: Kingsland School is a split site provision catering for pupils aged 11 16 years of age. Our Broadbent Road site is a Pupil Referral Unit which offers Day 6 provision for those pupils who have been permanently excluded from an Oldham Secondary School or Academy. Our second site, known as Laurel Bank currently hosts our Specialist Learning Centre and is based in Shaw, Oldham. This provision is for pupils experiencing social, emotional or mental health and medical needs which creates a barrier to their attendance at school. This site also hosts our unique provision catering for pupils from the SLC with an Educational Health Care Plan and is the base for our Primary Outreach Service.
