We are excited to offer the opportunity of the role of Medical Receptionist at our Practice.
The role of Medical Receptionist covers a wide variety of duties including face-to-face and telephone patient contact. Booking appointments, handling queries, and working with the other Practice staff to deliver excellent and timely care to our patients.
Any candidate with GP surgery experience will have an hourly rate of £11.88.
Main duties of the job
1. Act as the first point of contact for all patient enquiries, having the ability to navigate patient care appropriately.
2. Respond to all queries and requests for assistance from patients and other visitors.
3. Resolve issues, delegating upwards only when unable to solve.
4. Ensure patients without appointments but who need urgent consultations are booked in a logical and non-disruptive manner.
5. Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover, ensuring compliance with the registration policy.
6. Ensure online patient registration is actioned with immediate effect and that the patient is able to use the online services.
7. Ensure all visitors are booked in and out using the visitor book and inform the person being visited of their arrival.
8. Liaise with Doctors and Nursing staff as required.
9. Ensure reception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy.
10. Book appointments and recalls.
11. Process discharge letters from hospitals after suitable in-house training.
About us
We are a large Practice in Newton Aycliffe with 13,500 patients. We have 5 GP Partners, 4 Salaried GPs, 4 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 4 Practice Nurses, and 4 Health Care Assistants.
In addition, there is a large admin team to support the clinical teams.
We are a training Practice where we invite trainee GPs and Nurses to work with us in their training programme.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE Mathematics and English Grade C or higher.
* Experience of working with the general public.
* Excellent communication skills (Written and Oral).
* Clear, polite telephone manner.
* Time Management and the ability to work to deadlines.
* Interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work autonomously.
* Experience of working in the NHS General Practice as a secretary/receptionist for at least 2 years.
* Experience of working within the NHS.
