Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Net Zero Energy Business. This position would be based in Glasgow, Bristol or Stockton, with a flexible mixture of home-working and office/site collaboration time expected. We also welcome applicants wishing to work part-time.

Our Net Zero business unit is a multi-disciplinary team that offers a stimulating variety of work, from feasibility studies through to detailed design, site surveys, design verification or site-based secondments. We are currently delivering a portfolio of projects such as hydrogen production, hydrogen storage and industrial decarbonisation.
Your Purpose:
Do you enjoy a wide variety of tasks and projects? We are looking for someone versatile; you could be working on a small individual assignment or as part of a larger, multi-disciplinary team. You will enjoy working closely with clients on a range of demanding issues whilst helping to mentor and train more junior colleagues.
Examples of the types of work you will be involved in:
1. Leading technical aspects of mechanical engineering projects. This may be over a range of design phases, from optioneering through to detailed design.
2. Supervising, developing, and mentoring others.
What you can bring?
In addition to having strong communication and leadership skills, key attributes include the following:
1. Master's degree (MEng/MSc) qualified Mechanical Engineer.
2. Chartered Engineer and a member of IMechE is desirable.
3. Strong technical background.
4. Experience in a highly regulated industry (e.g., power, chemical, oil & gas) is desirable.
Some examples of the experience that would be of benefit are:
1. Pipe stress analysis.
2. Equipment specification and engineering specification writing.
3. Experience of attendance at site for surveys and operations.
4. High temperature component life assessment.
5. Fitness for service assessments.
6. Pressure part design calculations.
7. Plant layout design.
8. Pipeline routing and design.
9. Checking and providing assurance of deliverables.
Additional Information:
This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview.
