Job Description Summary
GE Aerospace is a major manufacturer of aircraft engines and components partnering with the world’s major aerospace companies covering commercial, business jet and military applications.
The Production Planner will convert the MPS master schedule from Central Planning into an executable production plan for the Avionics shop floor. Working in the next 13-week window, but as far as 2 years with the central planning team, the production planner will work alongside Avionics Operations, Sourcing, PCB and Materials teams to highlight any forthcoming constraints which may place the MPS plan at risk & take action to flex this plan accordingly to ensure hours are maintained within the shop. Additionally, they will hold the production team accountable to this plan & maintain Root Cause Corrective Action records for reasons behind shortcomings.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
* Conversion of MPS master schedule into a production plan at all levels of the BOM (sub-assemblies & assemblies).
* Work closely with Materials Planners & Controller to achieve weekly production plan with an adherence target of >97% week on week.
* Demand stability including accounting for unplanned demand (Customer returns, upgrades & yield issues).
* Develop and support the Materials Team alongside Materials Lead.
* Capacity Resource Planning (CRP) – understand manpower constraints and measure productivity.
* Process/machine capacity, including working to understand changes in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
* Drive inventory improvements through WIP entitlement and Lead time analysis.
* Co-ordinate cross functional teams in the maintenance of critical data for planning purposes (lead time, yield, attrition etc.).
* Be the main point of contact with Sourcing & PCB to drive simplification of communication channels & proactive raising of risks to material procurement.
* Creation and tracking of critical recovery plans.
* Communicate the status of the plan to all levels of the business (shop floor to EB site leader).
* Ability to balance a range of critical measures (customer OTD, inventory, direct labour productivity, scrap) to drive the right outcomes for the customer and the business.
* Own Avionics Materials BUCC updates.
* Cover key meetings & drive critical actions when Avionics Materials Leader is out of office.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college, or equivalent knowledge and experience in supply chain operations.
* Relevant experience in Materials/Production Planning and Execution.
* MS Office Packages – Specifically MS Excel.
* Strong system knowledge of Oracle ERP or another ERP system.
* Knowledge and experience of production planning and scheduling.
* Proven ability to manage competing priorities.
* Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
* Strong oral and written communication skills.
* Proven analytical and organizational ability.
Desired Characteristics
* Six Sigma / Continuous improvement training.
* APICS CPIM - Certification in Production and Inventory Management.
