Your Role:
As our next Assistant Lawyer to join the Bolton office, you will be working alongside 2 Senior Lawyers within the team on high value, complex injury cases which range in value up to £1 million. The cases you will work on are a mix from well-established clients as well as the MIB. They cover orthopaedic injuries, minor-to-moderate brain injuries, indemnity issues, complex polytrauma, fatal cases, ID fraud issues and MIB clause A issues, seatbelt intoxication, and drug use.
The role would suit someone with a range of experience in RTA, looking for a supportive role to progress their career. Ideally, we seek RTA intermediary track experience as a minimum along with a hardworking, proactive, efficient, and eager-to-learn attitude.
Key Responsibilities
As Assistant Lawyer your role will include:
* TEAMWORK: Working with the 2 Senior Lawyers in the team to help manage their caseloads of complex injury claims valued up to £1m.
* COMMUNICATE: With insurer clients, addressing their queries and providing updates.
* ANALYSIS: Forensic analysis of voluminous quantum evidence.
* STRATEGY: Drafting concise technical advice on all aspects of claim handling, including reserves, indemnity, liability, quantum, and causation issues.
* PROACTIVITY: Identifying next steps required on matters, discussing them with the Lead Lawyer, and taking agreed actions.
* TECHNICAL: Interviewing witnesses, drafting statements, liaising with involved parties, drafting pleadings and applications, instructing counsel, and attending conferences and court as required.
* TARGETS: Delivery of agreed performance targets (including chargeable hours) and quality standards.
* DELEGATION: Assigning tasks for Paralegals and engaging in their development.
* CASE MANAGEMENT: Maintaining case management systems with up-to-date management information for clients.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
What you’ll have:
* You will be a qualified solicitor, CILEX, or have proven legal experience in a similar role, with RTA intermediate track experience.
* You will have experience in indemnity, liability, and quantum.
* A Defendant or Claimant background – both are considered.
* You will have a good understanding of case law, litigation practice & process, and Court Practice Rules.
* You will be committed to your own development and that of others.
* You will have the ability to deliver outstanding service to clients.
