We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic midwife to join the maternity safeguarding team. The post holder needs to be passionate about safeguarding women and their babies throughout the pregnancy continuum.
The Safeguarding Team are progressive and innovative and we continually strive to ensure that all Trust staff know their safeguarding roles and responsibilities and are equipped to improve services for women and their families. The post holder will work closely with, and be supported by, the Safeguarding Lead Midwife and other members of the Trust’s Safeguarding Team to ensure that the Trust meets its statutory responsibilities regarding safeguarding children.

The post holder will, with the support of the Safeguarding Lead Midwife, act as a point of contact for women and birthing people, health professionals and partner agencies that have safeguarding concerns in relation to women/birthing people or their families in the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period; advising partner agencies on health matters regarding safeguarding children and adults both in the hospital and community setting.
The post holder will actively encourage and support frontline staff to adopt a ‘think family’ approach and consider the needs of dependants when providing care.
The post holder will, with the support of the Safeguarding Lead Midwife, advise, inform and escalate safeguarding concerns to the Safeguarding Lead Midwife / Named Midwife / Nurse regarding all matters of safeguarding as appropriate.
The post holder, with the support of the wider Safeguarding Team will take an active role in the provision of Safeguarding Training.
The post holder will work within the multi-agency team to provide effective communication and liaison with other acute providers to ensure women/birthing people and their families remain safe during their period of maternity care.
The post holder will engage with other partner agencies and members of the broader multidisciplinary team as appropriate.
