An opportunity has arisen to work as a band 3 physiotherapy assistant within the Paediatric Physiotherapy service with Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful applicant will work with children and young people from the ages of 0 - 19, with varying conditions, in many different locations, including mainstream schools, special schools, nurseries, family hubs and homes. Assisting the Paediatric Physiotherapists in the treatment of the children and young people.
Although the post holder will be based in North Tyneside they will be expected to work in other areas of the trust as the needs of the service commands.
• To assist physiotherapists in the treatment of their patients, working to defined protocols and treatment plans.
• To assist a qualified Physiotherapist in the implementation of treatment programmes for individual children or groups of children.
• Work with the physiotherapist to improve the child’s quality of life, aiming to achieve maximum functional ability and independence.
• To facilitate arrangement of appointments, transport and ordering of equipment.
• to manage own caseload of non-complex children, with support from a qualified physiotherapist to progress their treatment appropriately.
• To implement treatment programmes prescribed by qualified physiotherapists.

• To be responsible for the overall hygiene & maintenance of the department and equipment.
• To plan and organise own day-to-day work tasks and activities as directed by the physiotherapist on a daily basis.
• To record patient treatment in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with the trust standard.
• To work to the standards of individual clinical areas to ensure that background knowledge is acquired through independent learning and collaboration with senior staff.
• To participate in in-service training programme and CPD activities as appropriate.
