Smiths Detection is seeking a Service Projects Engineer to join our team, ensuring seamless service project delivery for critical security solutions. About the Role As a Service Projects Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering, installing, repairing, and migrating advanced checkpoint solutions. You’ll act as the technical expert, project lead, and key liaison between sales, programs, and service teams. Working across various stakeholders, you'll ensure smooth project execution, optimal customer satisfaction, and compliance with health and safety standards. Key Responsibilities: Lead and execute service projects, including installations, equipment moves, recommissions, site surveys, and trials at client sites across UK & Ireland Conduct site visits, manage client meetings, and set clear expectations for project delivery. Oversee all on-site activities, ensuring health and safety compliance and resolving any issues that arise. Provide technical support during delivery, installation, and commissioning phases of projects. Create and manage project plans, risk assessments, and method statements. Support sales and programs with technical expertise, service quotations, and scope of work documentation. Analyse project data and generate customer reports. Deliver operational and technical training to customers and stakeholders. Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, including contractors, suppliers, and customers. Assist with field service activities and ensure a smooth transition from sales to service. What We’re Looking For: Proven engineering experience in installation, system integration, service, maintenance, and repair. Strong knowledge of ATRS, checkpoint solutions, and baggage handling systems. Experience in testing protocols (FAT, SAT, UAT) and data analysis. Excellent technical problem-solving skills, including fault finding and log analysis. Ability to create detailed project documentation, including handover and commissioning materials. Familiarity with PLC/HMI programming and Linux console commands is desirable. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders. PRINCE2/PMP qualification or equivalent project management experience is highly desirable.
