Our client, a highly successful Malting company since 1823, has a current vacancy for an Electrical Maintenance Technician based within their Inverness site.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the main purpose of this role will be to take responsibility for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance of all plant equipment to ensure the required levels of malt production are achieved.
The hours of work will be 8.00 am to 4.30 pm, with a 30-minute paid break. During the harvest period (mid Aug-Oct), a 12-hour shift pattern will be in place, and during this time, annual leave will not be permitted.
There is a call-out requirement on a rota basis (currently 1 in 4). The position holder must be located within 30 minutes of the plant.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Carry out Planned and Reactive Maintenance at the Inverness site.
2. Contribute to 6S efficiency improvements around all areas of the site.
3. Contribute to continuous improvement on site by maintaining a vigilant approach to your work, identifying, and reporting any areas of interest to site management.
4. Complete maintenance paperwork in line with company procedures.
5. Recommend improvements to the operation of equipment, where appropriate.
6. Contribute to the installation and commissioning of new equipment and plant, where appropriate.
7. Ensure full compliance with all relevant electrical and mechanical engineering regulations.
8. Continued personal development by keeping up to date with new techniques, processes, and equipment, undertaking training courses and in-house training, as required.
9. Maintain high levels of engineering hygiene and housekeeping.
10. Carry out other duties from time to time that may be reasonably requested.
11. Report all hazards, near misses, incidents, and accidents.
12. Complete all work required in a safe manner and report all risks to site management for risk assessment.
Desired Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes:
1. Recognised electrical apprenticeship.
2. Formal electrical qualification to BS7671:2018.
3. Experienced in Electrical Testing, fault finding, installation & inspection.
4. Basic Mechanical skills with plant equipment.
5. Excellent problem-solving ability.
6. Self-motivated and able to work under own initiative.
7. Be reliable and work well within a team.
Working Knowledge:
1. Knowledge of Material Handling Systems, Bucket Elevators, Belt Conveyors, Screws, Diverters, etc.
2. PLC systems.
3. Motors, Inverter Drives, Soft Start systems.
4. Gearboxes and drive gear.
Desirable:
1. Basic understanding of Malting processes would be advantageous.
2. ATEX Regulations, Ratings, and Zoning of areas.
3. Qualified to operate a forklift truck / MEWP or prepared to train.
4. Full UK driving licence.
