Electrical Group Leader (FTC 6 months)
Reporting to the Research & Development Manager, the Electrical Group Leader will be responsible for the implementation of electrical installations on all vessel types. The Group Leader will take the lead and manage his team in the installation and commissioning of electrical systems. The Group Leader will also be responsible for time management of his team and setting out tasks for the week. He will also be responsible for meeting set out targets.
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:
Main Function
* Build and install electrical systems alone or in conjunction with CEI Engineer.
* Manage the entire electrical production line including offline electrical assemblies (subsystems and distribution boards) and online installations (all systems in the vessels).
* Manage team and assist in installing all systems.
* Manage drawings on the floor.
* Allocate tasks to team members and monitor progress.
* Ensure quality of installation and compliance with relevant compliance organizations.
* Manage maintenance and care of specialized tools.
* Report on production status.
* Develop and maintain production task lists.
Technical Documentation
* Control all documents received from suppliers and deliver them to QA.
* Control all issued drawings from Engineering/Quality Assurance Departments.
People Management
* Continuous coaching, training, and mentoring activities.
* Develop immediate subordinates and succession planning.
* Develop, implement, and monitor the workstation training plan.
* Motivate staff and ensure that subordinates meet job standards and requirements.
* Ensure a good team spirit and motivated/engaged workforce are maintained.
* Ensure a disciplined workforce is maintained, resolving disciplinary issues according to Company Policies.
* Manage attendance-related aspects including late coming, absenteeism, sick leave, etc.
* Conduct investigations for disciplinary hearings and perform the role of the complainant.
* Ensure correct procedures are followed with electrical installations, including proper use of tools.
Stakeholder Support
* Liaise and provide support to electrical manufacturing staff.
* Support Production (Moulding shop, Assembly line, Joinery shop) onsite during the install process to ensure good workflow.
* Support the Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Engineers, and Process Engineers by providing feedback on the progress of work.
* Support the CEI engineer by providing technical feedback relating to warranty claims.
* Support Commissioning by answering any technical or BOM-related queries.
* Support CEI Engineer by providing constant feedback on the status of work on all projects under your control.
Ad-hoc and Administrative Tasks
* Responsible for the control and monitoring of workstation overtime as per the MEIBC/BCEA stipulations.
* Responsible for the control of requisitions of consumables and store items.
* Ensure all workstation documentation is up to date, displayed, and available.
* Perform Ad-hoc duties as and when required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
* Electrical or auto-electrical qualification.
* A minimum of 5 years work experience in marine electrical installation.
* Knowledge of marine standards ISO 13297:2014, ISO 10133:2000, and ABYC e-11.
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role.
COMPETENCIES:
* Proven work experience within the marine electrical industry.
* Proven managerial experience, adequate knowledge of time and attendance, and industrial labour law.
* Familiarity with industry standards and certification requirements.
* Self-disciplined to manage a team without supervision.
* Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Ability to work in a team.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Good organizational and communication skills.
* Ability to systematically troubleshoot and problem-solve.
* Self-motivated.
* Ability to work under pressure and keep to strict deadlines.
