Job Overview We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse within our PACU, so if you are an experienced Recovery Nurse or ODP, and are looking to develop and further your career in Recovery then we would love to hear from you. The department covers a wide range of specialities including orthopaedics (both trauma and elective), General surgery, Colorectal, Urology, Plastics, Gynae, ENT, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Emergency surgery. We are looking for a dynamic, innovative and highly motivated Registered Practitioner with a wide range of clinical skills to join our friendly, energetic and forward thinking team Main duties of the job Our unit has five recovery areas. Main recovery with 14 bays, which including 4 Critical Care buffer bays; SSU recovery, DSU1 recovery, IRS recovery and Minor Ops. You will be expected to show a flexible approach to work and take charge of both the team and department as the PACU co-ordinator, so excellent communication and management skills are essential. Furthermore, a commitment towards teaching is essential and all applicants should possess or be working towards a teaching or mentoring qualification. You will need to have experience in Post Anaesthetic Care which should include the care of high dependency patients. In-house management training will be offered to the successful applicant to develop within this role along with other personal and professional development with the support of our dedicated practice development. We encourage and support our staff to undertake post registration courses and mentoring. Person specification Qualification Essential criteria NMC/HCPC RGN or City & Guilds 752 Diploma (HE) Operating Department Practice (or NVQ equivalent) Formal mentorship / assessment qualification e.g. completion of the Trust associate mentorship programme. Supervision of Learning in the Clinical Environment (SLICE) City & Guilds 730 FAETC ENB 998 or A1 or D32/33 or Cert of Ed. Academically accredited post registration qualification in Theatre/Perioperative Practice or relevant experience.
