Sister/Charge Nurse Emergency Department

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust provides integrated acute and community healthcare in the West Midlands serving a population of 260,000 residents. Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and we are continually upgrading.
We are seeking to recruit a number of Band 6 Nurses to join our Nurse in Charge Team in Walsall Healthcare’s Emergency Department. We welcome applications from those with a minimum of 2 years Emergency Department experience or Acute Hospital or Urgent Care Experience.
The Nursing Team at Walsall’s Emergency Department has recently seen investment that supports both an expanded workforce and a 6% increase in training and education time for all nursing colleagues. Candidates will benefit from this investment as the delivery of education, skills, and knowledge is expanded across the Nursing Workforce in ED.
Main duties of the job
Applicants will join the nursing workforce that is already meeting national standards for quality of care. Walsall Emergency Department is regularly in the top 5 Trusts regionally for Ambulance Handover Standards and Triage Times. Candidates will be joining at an exciting time as the service commits to continue improving these standards of quality of care.
You must demonstrate excellent communication skills, initiative, and the ability to lead a Nurse Team in a busy Emergency Department environment. Our Department has access to a range of learning environments including courses to increase clinical skills and knowledge.
Person specification
QUALIFICATIONS
* ENB 199/Post registration qualification in foundations Emergency Nurse practitioner/equivalent degree in acute/critical care nursing.
* ALS or EPLS or TNCC.
EXPERIENCE
* A good understanding of nursing and related emergency care of patients within A/E.
* Significant post-registration experience and experience of working within an Emergency department or similar environment.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
* High level of nursing skills including phlebotomy skills, IVI drug administration, Suturing, Pop application.
* Ability to work with IM & T systems.
* An ability to organise workload of a specific area of Emergency Department including patient flows.
OTHER
* Flexibility and ability to cope with unpredictable patterns of work and demand.
* Leadership skills and ability to delegate.
* Team Worker and ability to work with a wider multidisciplinary team.
