An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and skilled individual to join a growing business as an Assistant Management Accountant. You will play a key role in supporting the Financial Controller and project teams with financial reporting, analysis, and day-to-day accounting activities. This is a great chance to work in a friendly, fast-paced environment where you will gain exposure to various aspects of management accounting and project accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
6. Prepare monthly financial statements, including income statement, balance sheet, intercompany reconciliations, cash, fixed asset registers, and key financial statistics, with variance and sensitivity analysis and commentary.
7. Prepare monthly business reporting packs for the business entity.
8. Complete monthly & quarterly group financial reporting, ensuring accuracy in system entries.
9. Provide support to Project Managers on project accounting, including monthly milestone calculations, work in progress adjustments, and variance analysis (actual vs projected costs and margins).
10. Develop and maintain financial models to support budgeting and forecasting activities.
11. Assist with the preparation and completion of statutory accounts and taxation packs (knowledge of UK GAAP, FRS101, FRS102 & IFRS reporting).
12. Support external auditors and assist with the annual financial audit process.
13. Assist in the annual operating planning process, supporting managers with preparation and finalising reports.
14. Provide commercial support to management, sales, project, and procurement teams.
15. Communicate identified risks and opportunities effectively.
16. Manage sales and purchase ledgers, working capital, cash flow, and stock tracking and adjustments.
17. Handle payroll and pension processing, including BIK / P11D reporting.
18. Ensure timely submission of VAT returns, monthly CIS submissions, and assist with annual R&D claims.
19. Review, leasing/hire car management, and credit card management.
20. Oversee timesheet system management and ensure accuracy in reporting.
Experience & Skills Required:
21. Qualified or part-qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA).
22. Proven experience in management accounting, financial analysis, or a similar role.
23. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modelling, pivot tables, and data analysis.
24. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to solve complex financial problems.
25. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial data to non-finance stakeholders.
26. Experience with Sage 200 or Eque2 Construction is desirable.
27. Commercial awareness and the ability to apply a commercial mindset to financial analysis.
28. Positive, proactive, and solution-oriented approach.
29. Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
30. Logical, methodical, and detail-oriented.
