Permanent Plant Mechanic required for Lisburn. Job Overview: As a Plant Mechanic, you will play a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance and safety of equipment and machinery for both the company and their clients. Your meticulous attention to detail, technical expertise, and commitment to high standards will be key in preparing and maintaining machinery to operate effectively. Reporting to the Parts Purchaser, you will also assist with short-term planning requirements to ensure smooth operations and minimal downtime. Duties will include: Diagnose faults and conduct repairs on heavy plant machinery and equipment. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to minimise machinery downtime. Test, adjust, and calibrate systems for maximum efficiency and safety. Ensure machinery and equipment are prepared to the highest standards before dispatch or client use. Perform thorough quality checks and address any potential issues prior to equipment handover. Collaborate with the Parts Purchaser to ensure all necessary parts and tools are available. Track and manage spare parts inventory and identify restocking needs. Adhere to all company safety policies, industry regulations, and best practices. Inspect equipment to ensure compliance with health and safety standards. Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and equipment inspections. Provide feedback to supervisors regarding potential machinery improvements or recurring issues. Work closely with the Parts Purchaser, operators, and other team members to align on operational goals. Offer guidance and training to junior mechanics or operators when necessary. Essential Criteria: Proven experience as a Plant Mechanic or similar role in the machinery or heavy equipment industry. Strong knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems. Familiarity with diagnostic tools and repair techniques for plant machinery. Ability to interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
