Main duties and responsibilities To work on water systems, ventilation systems, steam systems, air tube systems, heating and cooling plant, and other mechanical equipment at the Trust. To be prepared to work in hazardous areas, taking all safety measures to prevent danger, and avoid injury, and prevent damage to equipment, following Policies and Procedures. To work in accordance with the requirements of Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs) on Sterilisation (HTM 2010), and Washer Disinfectors (HTM 2030) after appropriate training. To actively participate in the operation and control of engineering planned maintenance schemes. Work overtime to carry out emergency repairs as required by management. Undertake on-call duties as part of the on-call team to ensure that emergency repairs occurring out of normal hours are attended to, including at short notice, to ensure this essential service is maintained. To always carry Trust communication devices, including a two-way radio (to facilitate immediate response to emergencies) and an electronic tablet (in order to receive and update reactive & PPM job tasks). To undertake essential repair works and general maintenance activities at the request of the Estates Services Manager, Maintenance Manager, Mechanical Supervisor or Estates Officers. To estimate the material requirements of a job and advise accordingly. To record the progress of all tasks by keeping electronic records up to date. To carry out minor works on equipment associated with other Trade disciplines. To undertake other duties consistent with the role/grade of the post as requested by Management.
