The London division currently has a turnover of £50 million, and as the business continues to grow, they are looking to expand their team with a motivated and experienced Project Quantity Surveyor.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and ambitious Project Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team in London. This is an exciting opportunity for a QS with proven experience in commercial office fit-out projects to come in and make an immediate impact. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in project delivery and the ability to manage cost control, contracts, and financial aspects of fit-out projects. There is excellent potential for career progression within the business as it continues to expand.
Key Responsibilities:
* Pre-Contract:
* Assist in the preparation of tender documentation and manage the tender process.
* Provide advice on procurement strategies and cost planning.
* Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets based on the initial design and project scope.
* Post-Contract:
* Take full ownership of the cost management for the assigned projects, including the preparation of cost reports, valuations, and cost forecasting.
* Manage variations and change orders, ensuring accurate financial records are maintained.
* Review and monitor project costs to ensure they remain within budget, identifying and mitigating risks that could lead to cost overruns.
* Oversee subcontractor accounts, including valuations and payments.
* Ensure that projects are delivered in compliance with both contract terms and financial constraints.
* Provide regular financial reports to senior management, ensuring transparency in the financial status of projects.
* General:
* Act as the main point of contact for clients and subcontractors regarding financial matters.
* Liaise with project managers and senior stakeholders to ensure projects run efficiently and stay within budget.
* Collaborate with other departments, including legal and procurement, to ensure all contractual obligations are met.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors.
Key Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Project Quantity Surveyor, ideally within the commercial office fit-out or construction sectors.
* Strong understanding of all aspects of quantity surveying, from pre-contract through to project completion.
* Experience working with cost planning, budgeting, and financial management on high-value projects.
* A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (RICS accreditation or working towards is advantageous).
* Solid knowledge of contract law and standard building contracts (JCT, NEC, etc.).
* Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify potential cost savings and efficiency improvements.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to liaise with clients, contractors, and subcontractors at all levels.
* Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
* A proactive and solution-driven mindset, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
