Supporting the Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists with the rehabilitation patients in the acute respiratory team based on the medical and surgical wards at Harrogate District Hospital. The post involves performing hands on interventions and any relevant administrative duties.
Patients will mostly have medical and surgical conditions. They will be needing rehabilitation and practise of functional abilities so that they can achieve their potential before going back out into the community to live.
Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a conscientious, forwarding thinking therapy assistant to join our Acute Respiratory Team.
The team comprises of physiotherapists and occupational therapists working with patients with a variety of conditions The role of the assistant is to support the therapists in the assessment, treatment and discharge planning of these patients, back into the community in a timely manner.
It is important that you are organised and can work under pressure, along with having good computer based, written and verbal communication skills.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Minimum of 5 GCSE’s or equivalent
* Achieved or working towards a relevant qualification e.g. Qualification Credits Framework (QCF)
* Diploma Level 3 in Health & Social Care or a Foundation Degree in Rehabilitation or equivalent
Desirable criteria
* Attended other relevant short courses e.g. basic handling course
Experience
Essential criteria
* Experience as a Physiotherapy / OT / Rehabilitation Assistant / Care Support worker
Desirable criteria
* Experience with the elderly/disabled
* Experience of working within the NHS setting
