Job Description
The purpose of the role is to oversee weekend operations activities. Providing first line management support to our Composite, Machine-shop, Logistics Operations, ADM and Inspection Depts.
Working with our dept Team Leaders, the Manager is responsible for the communication, safety and effectiveness of our nightshift operations and team members to achieve operational excellence.
Acting as a conduit between Day and Nightshifts, ensuring collectively that we meet our daily operational and productivity targets to meet programme milestones.
Operational Duties & Key Objectives
* Communicating and consulting with departmental managers, supervisors, and team leaders to understand production priorities.
* Ensure clear communication between day and nightshifts to optimise productivity effectiveness.
* Ensure Operational priorities are carried over from shift to shift.
* Create a ‘safe,’ positive, and supportive working environment.
* Embed and integrate company core values through leadership communication and actions.
* Ensure all deliveries to site are received, booked in and located properly.
* Identify, recommend, and implement positive changes as part of our continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and quality, and reduce manufacturing costs and lead-times.
* Ensure materials are picked and available for the next job, this must include shift change.
* Be technically knowledgeable of manufacturing processes and methods.
* Implement and promote a safe working environment.
* Report and feedback equipment issues.
* Monitor KPI’s for productivity within the departments and enact measures as required to achieve.
* Adherence in full to company data capture requirements.
Main Duties:
* Oversee team leaders and team members, creating a culture of Operational Excellence, continual improvement, and collective mindset to deliver the businesses vision, mission, and strategy.
* Drive a “Right first time” culture.
* Start of shift meetings are carried out across the Factory Floor.
* Prioritise and plan production workload to achieve delivery deadlines.
* Adhere to delivery dates for all components and tasks.
* Process NCR corrective and preventive actions in a timely manner.
* Actively look to continuously improve department processes and procedures.
* Ensure shift handover notes are concise and accurate for all individual Depts.
* Identify issues in efficiency and effectiveness, identifying and implementing improvements.
* Embed a culture of quality and improvement.
* Oversee, support and mentor team members.
* Monitor and supervise shift team member’s timekeeping discipline.
* Monitor shift and individual performances to drive development and improvement plans.
* Conduct personal performance reviews and 1:1 meetings.
* Monitor and record individual performance against business targets and values measures in Work Day.
* Provide conduit for night shift teams to raise any ‘continuous improvement’ suggestions.
* Manage team members absenteeism and return to work interviews.
* Contribute and feedback to Root cause analysis and problem-solving investigations.
* Support recruitment and selection initiatives.
* Generate KPI’s on each shifts team performance each month using BI tools.
