We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and support their network infrastructure program. You will be part of a dynamic team responsible for designing, deploying and managing all aspects of our network systems and ensuring high availability and performance.
Rate: up to £350 Per Day + Expenses, outside IR35, 6-12 month initial contract.
You will need to go onsite to our clients' offices on the outskirts of Newport (South Wales) for two days per month. You will also need to go to various client sites across England, so you need a car!
Role Overview
You will be responsible for the installation, configuration and commissioning of complex network servers, PCs, and other peripheral systems that make up our clients' portfolio, along with their ongoing maintenance and issue troubleshooting and resolution.
Responsibilities
1. Configuration and deployment of networked servers, storage, network (hardware and related software packages), and other IT system support infrastructure.
2. Check and validate installations, and provide reports.
3. Configuration and troubleshooting of different types of connectivity systems.
4. Monitor system performance, undertake troubleshooting and resolution, and implementation of software patches and hardware replacements.
5. Maintain good document trails of system changes and updates.
Requirements
1. A minimum of 7 years network IT system setup and management experience in either commercial or industrial environments.
2. Strong understanding of IT networks and server system configurations, particularly Windows and Linux servers (essential) and networking (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN).
3. Virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) advantageous.
4. IT security and data protection best practices.
5. Analytical and problem-solving skills.
6. Excellent teamwork and communication abilities.
7. Ability to work autonomously.
Desirable: Certifications and 10+ years' experience.
