We are looking for an Estates Assistant for our care and education sites. The role would suit an individual with a passion for the outdoors.
The role includes general maintenance tasks associated with gardens, farms, and estates. You will need to be prepared to work with animals, completing animal welfare tasks. You will manage all tasks in line with New Forest Care’s Health and Safety procedures, including wearing the appropriate PPE where necessary and have the ability to confidently use small and heavy machinery.

Core Responsibilities
1. Contributing to the efficient and effective operation of the agricultural sites, residential sites, and offices by providing a high level of agricultural and horticulture support to the Estates Manager.
2. Supporting the Company in its overall responsibility for the health and welfare of the children and staff.
3. Assist the Estates Manager in ensuring that the school farm, animals, crops, and equipment used by the company are maintained to a functional, secure, and safe standard.
4. Undertake gardening activities at many of the properties owned by New Forest Care, including grass cutting, strimming, weeding, hedge cutting, etc.
5. Carry out these duties unsupervised during weekdays and weekends as agreed by the Estates Manager.
6. Complete animal care, horticultural, and agricultural tasks independently, ensuring all health and safety policies and risk assessments are adhered to.
7. To be aware of and follow all company procedures.
8. To be aware of confidentiality issues and to keep confidences appropriately.
9. Support and maintain collaborative, productive working relationships with staff and professionals from external agencies.
10. To contribute to reviews of students’ progress as appropriate.
11. Attend relevant in-service training.
12. Take responsibility in developing your own continuing professional development.
Environmental
1. Risk assessments in respect of individuals, along with general health and safety must be read, understood, completed, and signed as per New Forest Care Policy and Procedures.
2. You must take personal responsibility for your safety and well-being whilst working on site, including wearing appropriate clothing and protections, following health and safety procedures and risk assessments, and not taking unnecessary risks.
Physical Demands
The Farm & Horticulture Assistant role will require working in all weathers and will regularly require manual labour in a role that is physically demanding. You will be required to safely and effectively complete the manual tasks you are assigned.
