Our client, based in North Ayrshire, are looking to add a Vessel Manager to their team. As a Vessel Manager you will be responsible for the operational and technical management of allocated vessels including classification and QHSE, adhering to legislative requirements and compliance.

* Experience within a marine operational or technical management role.
* Candidates with Engineering background are preferred; however, candidates with good operational experience will be considered (ideally someone who has operated as a Master for a minimum of 5 years on vessels such as OSVs and tugs).
* Strong leadership skills.

JOB DESCRIPTION
* Responsible for managing fleet operations covering all aspects of vessels’ daily operations and client service delivery.
* Ensures compliance with vessels’ statutory and classification requirements.
* Provide advice and guidance on operational and technical matters to Crew, Clients, and other stakeholders when required.
* Support and liaise with the Compliance Department to ensure the Safety Management System is implemented effectively.
* Maximise vessel productivity, minimise downtime.
* Undertake vessel inspections and audits to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and QHSE systems.
* Identify, propose, support, and implement improvements to the Operations department to maximise efficiency including any cost-saving opportunities.
* Prepare reports on repairs, equipment, and vessel condition to enable effective vessel management and ensure viability and cost reduction of any vessel maintenance or modification activity.
* Prepare budgets and schedules for vessel maintenance or modification activity.
* Evaluate contractors, suppliers, and shipyards, verifying suitability and considering QHSE, insurance, financial, and operational requirements.
* Establish relationships with suppliers and contractors to enable a fast, effective, and cost-focused repair service, obtaining quotations, negotiating prices, and agreeing suitable payment terms where necessary.
* Plan and manage dry-docking, major repair, and planned maintenance activities in accordance with department procedures ensuring works are completed within planned cost and duration and to the required standard.
* Review dry-docking/major repair process upon completion and identify opportunities for improvement.
* Effectively coordinate vessel operational and technical activities, communicating regularly with the Group Operations Manager, vessel, client, and other key stakeholders.
* Initiate and conduct investigations into operational difficulties and technical failures, proposing and implementing cost-effective solutions.
* Maintain accurate technical records within the fleet planned maintenance system, reviewing, and updating the system where necessary.
* Ensure all relevant documentation and management information systems/databases are updated to enable effective monitoring of the fleet.
* Provide Masters with voyage instructions and prepare vessel in line with contract requirements. Monitor vessel movements and relay to key stakeholders where necessary.
* Build effective relationships with Clients, communicating clearly on operational and technical matters.
* Participate in emergency response to effectively deal with emergency incidents.
* Constantly engage in best operational and technical practice, with a focus on continual improvement.
* Support performance and development of direct reports.
