BSMHFT is excited to present one of our recently developed progression posts for Psychiatrists interested in working towards entry onto the Specialist Register via the CESR route.
The post on offer is to work at the Home Treatment Team at Zinnia Centre as a Specialty Doctor. This is a crisis resolution and home treatment service covering Zinnia Centre and Small Heath CMHT.
Our service ensures that all patients under the care of the home treatment team are reviewed by a doctor at least once weekly.
The Central HTT (part of the Zinnia East HTT) offers an excellent opportunity to manage patients who present in crisis and provides an alternative to inpatient care. Working with a Consultant Psychiatrist, duties will consist of the day-to-day clinical management of patients presenting in crisis, liaison with primary care and CMHTs, gatekeeping and early discharge of patients at the Zinnia Inpatient units.
We are looking for someone with enthusiasm and an appreciation of the opportunities and challenges of working within culturally diverse areas of Birmingham. You will have full registration with the General Medical Council and experience of psychiatry at a Core Training grade. Excellent communication skills, team working skills and flexibility are essential. You will be encouraged to participate in continuing professional development, audit, research and teaching and partake in the monthly SAS academic programme at our excellent Uffculme training centre in Moseley.

The Specialty Doctor will act as the medical officer working under the supervision of a Consultant Psychiatrist to look after the health needs of home treatment patients. This will involve taking psychiatric histories, performing mental and physical state examinations and formulate in a structured manner. The post holder will work in close liaison with other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
With hands on support from consultant colleagues, including portfolio development and exposure to a wide range of experience to aid competency achievement, this is a great opportunity for experienced psychiatrists, looking to make the next move in their career.
