Cranleigh STEM is working with a leading energy company looking to strengthen its engineering team. We’re looking for an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Maintenance Technician to join them on a permanent basis. You will play a key role in supporting the maintenance and operation of production and gas plant facilities, to ensure safe and efficient performance across sites. Hours: Monday to Friday (07:30-16:30) Call outs Location: Alton, Hampshire Role: Full-time, permanent Key Responsibilities Perform routine and non-routine maintenance checks and repairs. Service and calibrate process control instrumentation (transmitters, controllers, analysers, etc.). Assist with vendor-specified routine maintenance. Maintain site services in compliance with safety standards. Provide 24-hour call-out support for plant breakdowns. Ensure clean and hazard-free working environments. Support installation and commissioning of new plant facilities. Work alongside specialist vendor engineers to ensure efficient servicing. Supervise contractors and ensure compliance with issued permits. Assist operational staff and exhibit an understanding of process, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems. Perform equipment isolations to meet permit requirements. Continuously improve maintenance practices through training and supplier collaboration. Requirements Proven maintenance experience with instrumentation and electrical equipment. Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in instrumentation with strong electrical knowledge. Ability to work independently and take responsibility for maintenance tasks. Understanding of the oil and gas industry operations. Competencies: Ability to plan and prioritise tasks effectively. Strong teamwork and communication skills across all management levels. Reliable, diligent, and proactive problem-solving approach. Capable of handling high-pressure situations. Commitment to safety and continuous improvement. IT literate. Additional Information Some weekend, evening, and bank holiday work required. Additional duties as assigned to meet business needs. Call-Out Compensation Weekdays (Monday to Friday): 5 hours at base rate plus a minimum of 5 hours at 1.5x base rate. Weekends and Bank Holidays: Minimum of 5 hours at 2.0x base rate.
