Your role and responsibilities: In this role as Senior Finance Officer, no two days are ever the same. You will learn something new every day as you work with with small vibrant team of experienced and supportive colleagues. As a key member of the FIAS team, you'll manage complex debt, deferred payment and accrual cases while serving as the primary technical expert for colleagues across the organisation. Working under the guidance of senior management, you'll support social care teams, business managers, and finance departments in debt prevention, management and recovery and also be responsible for the day to day work of the team. The role involves maintaining your own caseload while developing broader expertise across FIAS functions, and contributing to process improvements and guidance development to enhance service delivery and meet key targets. communicating with Adults, their representatives, and professionals via phone, email, letters or in-person meetings responsibility for your own caseloads, which includes supporting Adults to maximise income, if required remote or face-to-face meetings with Adults or their representative to gather evidence to resolve outstanding debt issues liaising with colleagues from other departments such as Corporate Finance, Area Business Managers, operational area/team managers, among others, to manage debts cases effectively preparing data and undertaking financial analyses to facilitate resolution of identified debt cases ensuring payments are made in a timely manner be first point of contact for response to complaints relating to work area. taking part in FIAS panels. The team Suffolk County Council’s Accruals, Deferred Payments and Debt Management Team is based in Ipswich, and we sit within the Financial Inclusion and Advice Service, which also includes teams responsible for carrying out financial assessments for residential and community care, authorising and monitoring direct payments, managing people’s financial affairs, and providing specialist benefit and housing advice to other practitioners, among others.
