First Table, based in New Zealand, is a leading discovery and booking platform dedicated to transforming restaurants’ hardest-to-fill tables into revenue and marketing opportunities. We have realised strong growth recently, including tripling annual revenue in the United Kingdom, and are looking to expand substantially in international markets.
The Role
We’re looking for a dynamic Sales Team Manager to lead our sales team and drive our growth in this exciting industry. This position will report to the Chief Commercial Officer (based in New Zealand).
The Sales Team Manager will oversee a growing team of distributed sales professionals while actively contributing to the day-to-day sales process for a period of time. Once the business has sufficiently scaled its restaurant numbers, revenues, and operating performance, the role has the potential to grow into a broader role with more responsibility in our UK operation.
Responsibilities
* Sales Targets; With the Chief Commercial Officer, set, monitor and realise ambitious targets each month for restaurant numbers, offered tables and booked revenue.
* Strategy Development & Implementation; With the Chief Commercial Officer, design and implement scalable sales strategies that align with company goals.
* Team Leadership; Inspire your team to meet and exceed targets whilst building long-term sustainable relationships with our restaurant partners.
* Active Sales Participation; Experience our sales journey from the front line to aid in developing optimal sales processes into the future.
* Performance Management; including hiring, onboarding, training and development of UK team members.
Key Skills
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in a sales management role (preferably managing a sizable, distributed team in the e-commerce, hospitality or technology industries).
* Strong track record of achieving ambitious sales targets and driving team performance; periods of close and successful collaboration with marketing, product, operations and/or finance teams (preferably in an international business).
* Ability to build and maintain successful customer relationships with individual owners and groups of restaurants through excellent communication and influencing skills.
* Proficiency with sales tools and CRM systems together with a high level of comfort with technology and digital tools.
* Strong understanding of financial management principles and brings financial acumen to ensure decisions are fiscally sound and responsible.
* Exceptional leadership and coaching skills with a passion for developing talent and getting the best out of those around you. Team player with strong collaboration abilities.
* Comfortable in a data-driven, decision-making company with strong ownership of team metrics (revenue growth, unit economics, etc). Organised and understands the details.
* Self-starter capable of working autonomously and making day-to-day decisions for your team whilst being flexible in working arrangements to suit UK/NZ time differences.
* Willingness to be hands-on and immersed in the sales process for 12 to 24 months. Potential to take on higher-level business responsibilities in due course.
