Summary of the role
The main purpose of this role is to be the single point of contact for all airport operations across the site. The Airport Operations Manager will lead airport operations with specialist input from duty teams to make sound operational decisions. The AOM will be the lead for the airport’s emergency response, updating the Executive and Senior Management Teams directly. The AOM will take ownership of the airport’s relationship with airlines and other stakeholders on a daily basis.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Accountability and ownership of service delivery on a 24/7 basis, focusing on a safe and secure operation.
* To coordinate and lead the operational response to all emergency incidents.
* To provide the Executive and senior leadership team with regular information updates, as required.
* Responsible for efficient allocation of aircraft parking stands.
* Responsible for engineering support and critical decision making out of hours.
* To protect and enhance the company’s reputation through effective duty leadership.
* To lead an operational team equipped to deal with accidents, first aid and fire investigation effectively.
* To be responsible for the efficient and effective tactical management of the processes and facilities within the Terminal & Control Centre.
* Reporting to the Senior Airport Operations Manager, the AOM will lead both the Terminal and ACC teams on a duty shift basis.
* To be responsible for the effective provision of teams to cover a 24-hour operation.
* Responsible for the provision of an effective communications hub.
* To maintain an effective relationship with the Communications team.
* To be responsible for the efficient operation of all customer touchpoints.
Candidate requirements
Managing and Leading the Team:
* Demonstrate solid leadership skills to build and lead both the terminal and ACC operational team.
* Promote and encourage an open culture that embraces effective two-way communication.
* Develop a culture of continual improvement.
* Undertake all duties associated with staff management.
Managing Relationships:
* Build relationships with airport partners to ensure efficient processing of passengers.
* Chair a daily operational performance meeting with key partners.
* Ensure effective communication systems are established.
* Promote an open culture to remove barriers to efficient operation.
Managing the Facility:
* Plan for the most efficient use of airport equipment and facilities.
* Manage incidents within the terminal and landside areas.
* Manage all operational systems to ensure passenger flows are maintained.
* Maintain effective communication processes between team members.
* Manage employee and running cost budgets associated with the operation.
Performance Monitoring:
* Enhance processes, procedures and working practices to achieve regulatory standards.
* Provide regular reports to the operational management team.
* Develop and deliver against budgets allocated.
Customer Service:
* Ensure the airport team and its business partners strive to deliver service aligned to the customer strategy.
* Focus on delivering excellent service.
* This role is a shift-based role that requires the ability to cover a 24/7 roster pattern.
* Undertake such duties commensurate with the grading of the post.
Key Results/Objectives:
* Ensuring that the airport runs safely and securely.
* Maximising the efficiency of the operation.
* Leading and developing a team of Terminal and ACC staff.
* Daily management of the Terminal and ACC facilities.
