This role sits within the team responsible for growing the maturity of the Greenergy Internal Controls Framework as we transition out of a SOX environment. The team is responsible for:
1. Developing and maintaining process models within a defined process architecture.
2. Assessing the effectiveness of the documented processes and controls through an annual attestation programme.
3. Carrying out periodic internal audits.
Initially, the role will involve building process models in consultation with process owners and subject matter experts across the key business process areas. It will involve extending the current internal controls framework, which has a strong financial reporting focus, to ensure coverage of process, system & operational controls. The existing annual testing programme will also be maintained during this process development phase.
Moving forward, the focus of the role will switch to ongoing governance and improving the effectiveness of the internal control framework. This will be delivered through taking ownership of process models across specified areas of the business, annual certification of the process models, attestation of effectiveness of controls through the annual testing programme and carrying out internal audits in line with the audit plan.
The stakeholders that the team interacts with are mainly based in London and Manchester, so the role could sit in either location. Occasional travel to other locations should be anticipated.
Key Responsibilities
Process Governance:
1. Support with the development and maintenance of process models to support the growing maturity of the Greenergy Internal Controls programme.
2. Support the team to build a strong governance foundation to assist the business with operations and identifying opportunities for process & controls improvement.
3. Take ownership for the modelling of processes for relevant parts of the business, and mapping risks and controls.
Process and Controls Performance:
1. Deliver the ongoing certification of the internal controls programme.
2. Monitor and report progress on remediation of deficiencies.
3. Collaborate with business experts to identify opportunities for improvement across the internal controls programme.
Internal Audit:
1. Support the business on identifying opportunities for improvement and delivering an internal audit programme that supports continuous improvement across Greenergy.
2. Document and present findings to management and provide updates through to resolution of findings.
3. Contribute to the annual audit planning to align with shareholder strategy.
General:
1. Role model the Greenergy values.
2. Build a deep understanding of the business activities that underpin the internal control programme.
3. Build relationships with key process experts across the business.
4. Any other reasonable tasks as requested.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Qualifications and Experience:
* Strong attention to detail and ability to clearly document and articulate complex processes using industry standard methodologies.
* Hands-on experience of using Business Process Management and Analysis tools.
* Knowledge and experience of process improvement and quality management methodologies and approaches.
* Exposure to and understanding of controls frameworks & control testing.
* Audit experience.
* Demonstrate relevant industry experience & knowledge of regulatory requirement assessment.
* Highly literate with strong MS Excel skills.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present clear, well-structured reports and briefs.
