About the Opportunity
Jacobs are recruiting for a Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Nuclear Power Engineering and Technical Services team supporting our key client EDF Energy Nuclear Generation with their nuclear fleet in the UK.
This is a key role within our Project Management Resource team which is spread across our UK network at all UK sites and stations. You will be supported and mentored by experienced project management professionals within Jacobs and given the training and opportunities you need to develop and expand your project management, business development and leadership skills with larger and more complex projects.
The role will see you working as part of a large client-led team at EDFs Torness Power Station, with occasional business travel to other UK sites/stations. Flexible working arrangements between office and home may be possible based on project commitments and deliverables.
Since 1988 Torness Power Station has generated over 282TWh of electricity which is the equivalent of enough power for every home in Scotland for 29 years. Working with the existing onsite quality team you will help develop the overall quality strategy for outages and other maintenance periods as required. Duties within this include:
1. Supporting specific outage areas with identification of tasks and jobs that require enhanced quality arrangements
2. Development of quality plans and other quality arrangements with relevant maintenance, engineering, supply chain and contract partners
3. Representing the strategic planning department at relevant quality forums and be the main outage point of contact of station quality staff and contract partners quality teams for outage
4. Collaborate with station and contract partner teams to drive quality an all outage tasks
5. Set up and run a team carrying out quality control surveillances during work execution
6. Report quality issues to department group heads, strategic planning manager or through other forums as required
7. Work with the outage coordinators on outage and maintenance period risk identification and mitigation
Here's What You'll Need:
8. HNC in a Technical Discipline or equivalent
9. Experience of quality maintenance activates in a QA/QC role or a technical role
10. Recognised BE EN ISO9001 Internal Auditor Training completed
11. Certification as IRCA Auditor/Lead Auditor
12. Able to influence others to focus on quality as a key issue alongside safety
13. Demonstrated proficiency in auditing and surveillance of client and contractor activities
14. Should be aware of the Site Licence requirements on quality assurance and arrangements required to ensure compliance
15. Demonstrated proficiency in Quality Management standards and guidelines including the current versions of BS EN ISO09001
16. Experience with project risk management would be an advantage
