Salary: From £32,000.00 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday

About us - Wessex Lodge School is growing!
Wessex Lodge School currently comprises of two sites: Wessex Lodge School located in Frome, and Newmead Farm, located in Maiden Bradley. Both sites allow students the opportunity to explore the curriculum alongside a range of subject paths, including the likes of, animal care, horticulture, DT, and forest school, as well as sporting activities.
Our students are aged between 8 and 18 years old. Each student has individual needs and, supported by the THRIVE approach, through a proven range of practitioner-led services and our talented staff, we can help to improve life outcomes for every student.
The established staff team come from a variety of previous occupations and have a vast range of individual skills, which can be utilised, within this school. So, if you have an interest and/or qualifications in animal care, horticulture, construction, outdoor education, forestry or any other specific trade or hobby, we would love to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the development, implementation, and review of the SEN policy and provision in line with statutory requirements and best practice.
2. Coordinate the identification, assessment, and provision of support for students with special educational needs, ensuring their individual needs are met effectively.
3. Provide guidance, training, and support to staff to enhance their understanding of SEN principles and best practices.
4. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to develop and implement personalized learning plans for students with SEN.
5. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEN provision, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance outcomes for students.
Requirements:
6. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a recognized SENCo qualification.
7. Proven experience working as a SENCo or in a similar SEN leadership role within a school or college setting.
8. Strong understanding of SEN legislation, policies, and best practices.
9. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
10. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, parents, and external agencies to support the diverse needs of learners.
