We are looking for a talented individual to take a prominent role in our supervision of cryptoasset firms registered with the FCA under the Money Laundering Regulations. This is a role in the Strategic & International Team in Digital Assets Market Interventions (MIDA).
The department is responsible for supervising Cryptoasset firms’ compliance with the Money Laundering Regulations (MLRs) and ensuring that firms maintain appropriately robust financial crime controls.
What will you be doing?
The team is responsible for supervising some of the largest cryptoasset firms operating in the UK. As part of this, the team is required to identify, support and mitigate risks of potential harm arising in these firms, including rapidly intervening where firms are at risk of being used as conduits for illegal activity, or pose harm to consumers or market integrity, for example perpetuating scams, fraud, or high-risk activities.
The team also works closely with colleagues in our Authorisations teams, including providing support and assistance to Change in Control applications, and setting supervisory strategies for newly registered firms. The team’s remit will change and broaden as the FCA assumes new regulatory responsibilities in relation to crypto.

The role would suit someone with who has some experience of digital assets, supervision, or has a desire to grow their expertise in these areas.
You will have the opportunity to develop an in-depth knowledge of the digital assets sector, the Money Laundering Regulations, and the FCA’s approach to supervision. You will also have the opportunity to further develop your internal and external stakeholder management skills, as we work across the FCA and other regulatory/law enforcement bodies to tackle harm and protect consumers and the market.
