Position Overview: B4B Payments, a leading electronic money institution regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Compliance to lead our compliance function. This role requires an individual who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves and engage directly with the compliance processes and teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that our UK business adheres to all relevant payment service regulations and electronic money regulations while effectively managing our relationships with Agents and Distributors and ensuring effective oversight of their compliance programme. Key Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and maintain a robust compliance framework that adheres to FCA requirements and industry best practices. Monitor and ensure compliance with the applicable sections of the FCA Handbook, all relevant payment service and electronic money regulations, including the requirements set forth in the Payment Services Regulations 2017 and Electronic Money Regulations 2011. Lead and manage the compliance team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high-performance standards and effective compliance oversight. Oversee compliance monitoring and testing activities internally and externally, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions as needed. Liaise with regulatory bodies, including the FCA when necessary, ensuring ongoing adherence to regulatory requirements and maintaining effective relationships with our regulator. Oversee the development and delivery of compliance training programs to staff and third-party Agents and Distributors where appropriate. Stay current with legislative changes and emerging regulatory trends, assessing their impact on the business and implementing necessary adjustments to compliance strategies. Produce and present regular compliance reports to the executive team and the board, highlighting performance, risks, and recommendations for improvements. Skills and Experience Extensive experience in compliance within the financial services sector, ideally within an electronic money institution or payment service provider. Strong understanding of UK payment service regulations and electronic money regulations, including the ability to interpret complex legal requirements and translate them into policies. Proven experience in managing and leading a compliance team, particularly in navigating the challenges of overseeing a diverse group of Agents and Distributors and outsourced functions. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify compliance risks and propose effective mitigation strategies. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate complex regulatory concepts clearly to a range of stakeholders. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and foster a culture of compliance throughout the organisation. Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., ICA, ACAMS) are desirable but not essential.
