Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist Assistant

onTrack Occupational Therapy Services (onTrack), a division of Santé Circle Health, is currently seeking an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) and Physiotherapist Assistant (PTA) to join our team.
We are looking for an OTA/PTA to work on a casual/on-call basis at a 20-bed short-term transitional unit located in Scarborough. This unit collaborates with local hospitals to assist patients in transitioning back to their homes or communities, primarily handling medical and orthopaedic cases.
The OTA/PTA will play a crucial role in implementing individualized treatment plans established and overseen by a Registered Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist. Working under their direct supervision, the OTA/PTA will:
* Administer programs developed by the OT/PT for individual clients, such as exercise programs, feeding or dressing programs, and assistive device training;
* Retrain patients to perform activities of daily living;
* Participate in group activities;
* Aid in lifting and transferring patients as needed;
* Regularly check treatment areas for cleanliness, safety, and adequate supplies;
* Document client progress as required;
* Communicate effectively with clients, families, and interdisciplinary team members;
* Provide client and family-centered care in partnership with clients/families and the interdisciplinary team, focusing on goal-directed, evidence-based, and outcome-oriented care;
* Respect the rights of clients/families to make decisions based on their values, beliefs, and experiences;
* Promote the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual well-being of clients and families;
* Collaborate with therapists/clients/families to plan, implement, and evaluate care.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications/experience:
* Graduation from a recognized Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist Assistant program;
* Preferred experience in a Rehabilitation/Complex Continuing Care or Acute Care Hospital;
* Previous work experience in a healthcare setting under the direction of an OT/PT is an asset;
* Demonstrated experience with geriatric population, neurological, cardiovascular, and musculoskeletal conditions;
* Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with all stakeholders;
* Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
