About the Role
Location:NIHR Clinical Research Facility, University Hospital Southampton
Position:Permanent Paediatric Research Nurse (Band 5)
Hours:There is no set shift rotation but the majority of the time you will work Monday to Friday 8-4 pm; however we expect that you will also work a variety of flexible hours including long days, nights, and weekends on an ad-hoc basis as per your research study requirements.
The role of the Paediatric Research Nurse is to:
• Provide specialist research and clinical care to research participants.
• Assist in the management, coordination and implementation of research programmes in accordance with the International Conference on Harmonisation/ Good Clinical Practice (ICH/GCP) and the UK Policy Framework in Health and Social Care
• Provide clinical supervision to other staff and students.
The CRF has adult and paediatric ward beds plus consulting rooms, a physiology lab, a temperature-humidity controlled room and a bronchoscopy suite. The majority of research patients come from the Wessex region however the CRF is a national dosing centre for advanced therapy medication so patients come from all over the country for this treatment.
The CRF is award-winning with many of our nurses winning posters at national and international conferences, and winning prizes in national competitions in pharmacology and nursing. The CRF is supported by its education team and with close links to the University of Southampton; there are lots of opportunities to develop your career academically or professionally.
