Advanced Recovery Practitioner (Criminal Justice Lead) - Herefordshire Recovery Service
Job Introduction
Do you want to help build a brighter future for communities and individuals across Herefordshire (West Midlands) doing a highly rewarding job? Thanks to investment from the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), we are expanding our service and are seeking a highly motivated and organised person to become the Advanced Recovery Practitioner (Criminal Justice Lead).
As an Advanced Recovery Practitioner (Criminal Justice Lead) within the service, you’ll make a real difference as you empower and enable people to change, while leading the service to find innovative and meaningful ways to support recovery. Passionate about people, you’ll enjoy support to enhance your own life too, as you make the role your own in a friendly, supportive multidisciplinary team.
The role is based in our Hereford office, with an expectation to travel across the county as required to support delivery. Access to own transport and/or willingness to use public transport is essential.
As an Advanced Recovery Practitioner (Criminal Justice Lead) we offer a starting salary of £28,392 rising each year in line with our pay progression salary bands, rising to £33,215 per year. (Dependent on experience you may be offered a starting salary above the initial starting salary).
You will have opportunities to progress your career with a structured learning journey and clearly defined career pathways that will enable you to achieve your long-term goals and work to your strengths.
Whether you are looking to progress into a management and leadership role at Turning Point, we will support and encourage you on your career journey.
Role Responsibility
We have an exciting opportunity for a new role within our team. The Advanced Recovery Practitioner (Criminal Justice Lead) will lead our criminal justice pathway, with support from the Outreach Team Leader, in partnership with Police, Probation and Court colleagues. This role supports those individuals who are arrested, sentenced to community treatment orders or are being released from prison. Ensuring accurate monitoring and reporting of key data, with support from our Insight Data & Performance Officer.
This role will be responsible for maintaining strong partnerships, which will involve regularly attending multi-disciplinary meetings to represent Turning Point and the Herefordshire service.
You will hold a defined caseload of service users with multiple, complex needs. You will provide learning opportunities and act as a point of expertise within the service, sometimes leading multi-disciplinary discussions to support planning, and be capable of representing the service in external meetings to improve pathways with partner agencies. Whilst not a line management position, Advanced Recovery Practitioners will form part of the leadership of the team and be key to supporting specific clients with complex needs as well as coaching and developing workers, particularly those new to the field.
The Ideal Candidate
You’ll understand alcohol and other substance use issues and the challenges and opportunities for individuals on a recovery journey, and have an excellent understanding of criminal justice services, with experience of working with people in police custody, prison or on community sentence. You will also have previous experience or knowledge of working in a health and social care setting, as well as an understanding of the importance of partnership working and communication between agencies. Some experience of leading a team, working to deliver targets, and supporting partnership working will be advantageous.
The role is varied, so flexibility, an ability to work dynamically on a one-to-one and group basis, and knowledge of current treatment options, relapse prevention and other skills to promote recovery will be vital. We also look for candidates with excellent communication and organisational skills who share our values as an organisation.
We value individual creativity and initiative and, whatever your role, you will be fully involved in identifying opportunities to improve the quality of our services and the service user experience. Your ideas will be listened to, and your suggestions implemented wherever possible. You will be supported in your role by extensive training to help develop your skills. Our learning culture encourages everyone to stay on top of the latest developments in their field and helps drive service improvement.
