Specific Duties:
The Finance Officer will play a critical role in managing the financial operations of the Club, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, bookkeeping, reconciliation of accounts, and banking activities. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and a solid understanding of financial principles, with previous experience in a similar finance or accounting role.
Payroll Management:
* Process payroll accurately and timely, including PAYE submissions and statutory deductions.
* Maintain employee records related to payroll, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
Bookkeeping:
* Maintain accurate financial records using Xero accounting software.
* Record all transactions, including income, expenses, and purchases, ensuring proper documentation.
* Complete VAT returns.
Reconciliation:
* Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records.
* Reconcile accounts payable and receivable, resolving discrepancies as they arise.
Banking:
* Manage daily banking activities, including handling electronic transactions and maintaining accurate records of all banking activities.
* Prepare bank statements and maintain accurate records of all banking transactions.
Financial Reporting:
* Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports, highlighting key trends and variances.
* Support the Finance Director in preparing annual budgets, management accounts, and forecasts.
Compliance and Controls:
* Ensure compliance with financial regulations and club policies.
* Assist in the implementation of internal controls to safeguard the club’s assets.
Support and Collaboration:
* Provide financial support to other departments as needed.
* Collaborate with external auditors during the annual audit process.
Experience and Qualifications:
* Recognised accounting qualification, minimum AAT level 3.
* Proven experience in a finance role, preferably in a club or hospitality environment.
* Strong knowledge of PAYE, bookkeeping, and financial reconciliation.
* Proficiency in Xero accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
