*Please note: this is a Nationwide, home-based role where travel will be required at key times in the year between NHBC Head offices, training hubs, and external providers.

What you’ll be doing
As a Lead Internal Quality Assurer for our NVQ provision, you will ensure a high standard of relevant assessment and teaching delivered by our teams for both apprenticeships and standalone awards. You will support your colleagues in the development and ongoing review of processes and standards to maintain Awarding Bodies approval, and meet Ofsted guidelines and ESFA funding compliance.
Maintaining a caseload of internal verification you will also coordinate that of others, oversee sampling plans for internal and consultant staff while completing observations and quality checks of assessment and teaching taking place, along with compliance and quality functions checks.
Responsibilities extend to:
12. Maintain training and quality improvement plans, implementing findings, monitoring long-term suitability, and adjusting for changes to regulatory or sector needs.
13. Liaising and consulting with customers, outside agencies, professional bodies, and government departments to ensure qualification and training programme meet their qualitative requirements and ensure quality assurance procedures are effectively maintained.
14. Maintaining NHBC’s accreditations, including ESFA, OFSTED, CITB, NVQ Awarding Organisations, and other bodies as appropriate.
15. Act as mentor lead for new assessors completing induction programme and assessor / internal verifier awards.
16. Ensuring that NHBCs qualifications centre manuals and other relevant policies remain current, incorporating changes to policy or rules amendments as required.
17. Supporting the ongoing review and development of business processes and systems used to deliver an efficient service.
18. Coordinating and leading NVQ standardisation days for internal and external assessor staff, contributing to and delivering best practice training for apprenticeship standardisation days as required.
The ideal candidate will have
19. Extensive technical knowledge of house building and the governing legislative framework it works within.
20. Experience working for a commercial Independent Training Provider, working with external educational organisations and regulators.
21. Excellent interpersonal skills and be able to negotiate/communicate and influence effectively at all levels.
22. KPI compliance including preparation of reports, data manipulation, and distribution of key trends.
23. High levels of literacy and numeracy.
24. Excellent attention to detail and a very strong quality-driven ethos.
25. Highly organised with agile and efficient working practices, thorough problem-solving ability, and investigative approach.
26. Experience coaching and delivering qualification programmes, with young people.
27. Able to ensure compliance with Awarding Organisation/Funding agencies requirements (where applicable)
28. Fully conversant with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and video conferencing with Teams, Zoom Visio, and Windows operating systems
Relevant assessment qualifications such as the following:
29. D32/33, A1 or level 3 award in Assessing competence in the workplace
30. Internal Verification qualification/certification such as D34, V1, TAQA (practical application) Level 4 award in Quality Assurance
31. Relevant construction industry qualification at level 6 EG Construction Management Degree, NVQ Site Management or Senior Site Inspection or similar
Education and Qualifications
32. A teaching qualification would be desirable
33. A member of an applicable Professional Institution such as CIOB, CABE, RICS, or ability to work towards within the probationary period.
