As our Retail Manager at Mount Stewart, you’ll play an important part in helping people enjoy their day. You’ll be generating crucial funds for the National Trust to invest in protecting and caring for places, so people and nature can thrive. Hours: Working 37.5 hours per week, with a usual working pattern of 9.30 am - 5.30 pm.
Salary: £24,500 per annum.
Duration: Permanent.

What it's like to work here:
Reporting to the Area Manager, you'll be supported to lead a team including a team leader, 4 retail assistants, and 10 retail volunteers. You'll be part of the leadership team at Mount Stewart and will work closely with the General Manager and the wider team, actively involved in making decisions that affect the whole place.
You will relish the opportunity to engage with visitors to Mount Stewart House, the World Class Gardens, and the wider Demesne.
What you'll be doing:
Your focus every day will be on your customers: going out of your way to ensure they’re having their best possible day. You'll lead your team from the front, encouraging them to speak to people and listen to what they want. You will inspire them so that everyone who buys something knows just what a difference their contribution, however small, will make to the work of the Trust in protecting nature, beauty, and history. You'll set stretching targets for the team and work together to achieve these through the highest standards of customer service and presentation of retail products.
Who we're looking for:

* an experienced retail manager, familiar with standard processes (including selling, merchandising, space management, stock control, risk)
* skilled in coaching, developing, and leading teams
* experienced in managing rotas and recruiting staff
* adept at maximizing sales in a retail outlet
