This established business manufactures products for a variety of purposes across personal care/hygiene markets for a range of leading and well-known brand names and businesses.
The purpose of this role will be to support and maintain all equipment and assets to the highest operational standards. You will be part of a team to provide efficient and professional maintenance services, assisting with such matters as breakdowns so the impact on lost time and waste is minimized, projects to ensure that upgrades or new equipment can be installed and commissioned efficiently, and facilities upkeep to ensure the site remains in good operating order. In addition, you will support the department with guidance and coaching to operators and colleagues as and when necessary to assist in developing best practices and operating standards in the workplace.
Main Role and Responsibilities
* Provide support as and when required to the operations team including any support, training or coaching that may be required to ensure equipment is safe and operationally ready to operate.
* Maintain the machinery to a high standard to maximise output with minimum breakdowns.
* Monitor the machinery during run time to prevent expensive downtimes and suggest routine maintenance programmes for machinery to allow for improvements to be made.
* Review the production performance daily with your team leader and suggest any likely improvements which could increase productivity – KPI’s will form a key part of the technician’s role.
* Communicate effectively across all levels of the business to ensure understanding of the process or problems encountered.
* Maintain a detailed downtime log in Gemba and any other system introduced by the business to support its engineering functions.
* Fully support the Quality and GMP requirements of the plant when working on machines to ensure minimal risk is created by maintenance activity.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Ensure that you understand and comply with Health & Safety at Work regulations at all times.
* Joint responsibility/accountability alongside the Engineering Team Leader for the production quality and quantities produced for your shift.
Minimum Requirements:
* FMCG manufacturing/distribution experience is ideal.
* Apprentice trained or similar development route.
* 17th edition or equivalent electrical qualifications.
* Experience from a maintenance team environment is ideal.
* An approachable/good communicator, willing to share knowledge and coach others.
Working Conditions:
Holidays: 22 days (176 hours) plus statutory days (statutory days and some annual days are designated and allocated by the Company on an annual basis). Holiday year is April to March.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 7am to 3pm/8am to 4pm (40 hours/week) with 40 minutes per day paid break.
Salary: flexible and depending on skills/experience (please quote current/desired salary when applying).
Contributory Pension Scheme – (via salary exchange with 50% of ER’s NI Rebate given to employees’ pension fund). Contributions are 5% Employee (minimum) and 4% Employer.
