Our client is seeking a talented Route Development Manager to join their dynamic teams in Birmingham, Manchester, Heathrow or Earl Shilton Role overview: As a Route Development Manager you will be responsible for driving the strategic and profitable growth of the trade through ownership of overall trade lane development plan. This role involves cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with customers and partners, identifying new opportunities for growth, and ensuring alignment with the company’s overall business objectives. Key Responsibilities as the Route Development Manager: Accountable for the profitable growth of the trade. Develop and implement strategies to grow volumes on assigned trade lane in Ocean (FCL & LCL) and Air. Drive volume growth and new business opportunities through a combination of direct sales activity from own customer portfolio (qualification to closure) and support to Business Development and Key Account teams as subject matter expert for your trades. Develop and maintain joint pipeline with key partners working in a collaborative way to mutually develop new business opportunities. Collaborate and work closely with Trade and Pricing teams, exchanging market intelligence and ensuring rate competitiveness. Build and maintain strong relationships with key overseas partners in selected markets. Act as the main point of contact for partners, ensuring clear communication and alignment. Travel regularly to assigned trade area to increase market understanding and knowledge, meet existing and prospective customers and develop deeper relationships with key partners. Commercial Strategy & Growth Collaborate with commercial teams to create marketing materials to promote assigned trade lanes. Monitor performance of assigned trade and evaluate partners, presenting insights and recommendations to the senior management team. Stay informed on trends, competitive landscapes, and ensure regular updates on market performance, challenges, and strategic recommendations are presented to key stakeholders. Lead or contribute to initiatives aimed at improving performance, exploring new trade opportunities, or enhancing partner relations. Required Experience & Skills 5 years experience within Freight Forwarding Route Development experience is preferable Sales experience
