An exciting opportunity has arrived to join the domestic team at Victoria Infirmary, Northwich incorporating the new Cheshire & Merseyside Surgical Centre due to open in 2025.
Being a Hospital domestic / porter can be a very demanding, fast paced role. You will be expected to clean all areas within the Hospital, including the new theatres, clinic rooms, waiting rooms and high risk areas to a very high standard. You will also assist with the transfer of patients / deliveries between the hospital's departments.
We have various part time positions available - HOURS TO BE CONFIRMED LATER
To provide a professional cleaning service in public, patient and staff areas in compliance with NHS guidance for standards of cleanliness and in association with departmental/managers, housekeepers and supervisors, to ensure the delivery of a quality, patient focused service.
You will also assist with the transfer of patients / deliveries between the hospital's various departments.
You will need to be hard working, reliable and a great team player.
Although the hours are predominately based at Victoria Infirmary incorporating the new Cheshire & Merseyside Surgical Centre, you will need to be flexible and able to travel at short notice between other sites belonging to the Trust to assist with the changing demands of the service.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT) provides good quality, safe and effective healthcare to the people of Cheshire and beyond. The Trust, which manages Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford, was established as an NHS Trust in April 1991 and became a Foundation Trust in April 2008.

Main responsibilities of the Job:
• To provide and maintain high level and professional cleaning services in all public, patient, staff and residential areas of the hospital.
• To respond quickly to transfer Patients, equipment and goods deliveries between hospital departments, as requested by departmental managers and clinical staff.
• To respond quickly and efficiently to cleaning requests following spillages.
• To deliver specialist cleaning processes for theatres, clinic rooms, patient waiting areas, furnishings, floorings and various surfaces.
• To clean general and patient equipment in accordance with agreed guidance from Infection Control, VIN management and the facilities co-ordinator.
• Complete written schedules of work and weekly stock / linen orders.
• To clean isolation areas, infection areas in accordance with Trust Infection Control Policy.
• To effectively clean all patient areas - clinical and non clinical.
• To assist in maintaining safe and tidy departmental and public areas of the hospital including the new paediatric waiting room.
• To report problems with cleanliness as and when they arise to the facilities co-ordinator.
• To dispose of household, confidential and clinical waste in accordance with legislation and Trust policy.
• To maintain and clean manual and electrical cleaning equipment
• To be aware of the safety of other people’s property and belongings
Some of the Essential requirements of the Post:
• Good standard of general education, including Mathematics, English Language & Literacy
• Experience of working in a healthcare area
• Experience of working with the general public
• Be an excellent team player with a 'can do' attitude
• Good attendance record
• Ability to perform a wide range of duties according to the job description
• Able to work on your own initiative but also work as part of a small and dedicated team
