Are you an experienced and skilled Electrical Maintenance Technician looking for a rewarding role that makes a real difference to our hospital and patients? As part of our wholly owned subsidiary company, you will contribute to providing a safe and efficient environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Starting Salary basic: £35,850 pa
Additional non-contractual attendance bonus: £1,000/annum
On call allowance premium: Circa £2,000/annum
Plus: circa £3,000+ for attending on call
The shift pattern for the role is:
1. 06.00-14.00
2. 08.00-16.00
3. 10.00-18.00
On call requirements for evenings, nights and weekends to provide a 24/7 service.
In the role, you will carry out all planned preventative maintenance activities related to the electrical infrastructure of a hospital site. You will troubleshoot, diagnose, and carry out repairs throughout the hospital and the wider community. The role also attracts a non-contractual attendance bonus.
You'll be part of the Barnsley Operational Estates Services Team, based at and working in Barnsley Hospital, with requirements to maintain satellite buildings such as the Barnsley Community Diagnostic Centre. We're looking for a team member who wants to develop; previous experience is essential however training and support are a priority to us. You'll have the chance to progress and learn new skills.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to participate in an emergency on-call rota for the out-of-hours service provided by the department. The role also attracts a non-contractual attendance bonus.

Knowledge and Awareness
* Lifting & Handling Training. Fire Training.
Qualifications
* To have completed a full, recognized electrical apprenticeship.
* To hold a BTEC NVQ Level 3/ONC/Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent City & Guilds qualification.
* Accredited HTM Competent Person Course.
* Infection Control Awareness Training.
Experience
* Must be able to demonstrate suitable post-apprenticeship experience in non-routine maintenance of complex engineering plant and equipment with a broad understanding of other trade disciplines.
* Experience of liaison with and supervising building and engineering contractors.
* Previous experience in a hospital maintenance environment with exposure to all building and engineering aspects.
Personal Attributes
* Able to read, understand and analyze complex engineering systems and drawings.
* Good planning skills/ability to carry out unsupervised maintenance and investigative work to the highest level.
* Maintain up-to-date in-house records.
* Ability to communicate with other members of staff and Contractors.
* Familiarity with Microsoft software packages and other general computer literacy.
* Team worker, self-motivated, and flexible.
