Mairehau High School seeks a compassionate and skilled counsellor to join our dedicated Guidance Network Team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the wellbeing and success of our students.
We are looking for a registered professional with experience in youth counselling, a strong commitment to student wellbeing, and an understanding of the diverse needs of our school community. The ideal candidate will be a trusted and approachable presence for students, offering support in areas such as mental health, personal growth, and academic challenges.
What we're looking for:
1. A recognised counselling, psychology, or social work qualification
2. Professional registration with the Teaching Council and NZAC, NZPB, SWRB, or equivalent body
3. Experience working with young people, preferably in an education setting
4. A commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural responsiveness
5. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with students, whānau, and staff
6. The ability to provide crisis intervention and support when needed
7. Familiarity with restorative practices and a collaborative approach to student wellbeing
