Key Duties and Responsibilities: The post holder will work closely with all the members of the multi professional team to ensure patients receive seamless integrated pain management care in both inpatient and outpatient settings and have the opportunity to develop areas of interest and work across these services as they gain experience in this specialism. The post holder will be involved in the outpatient clinic activity and working collaboratively with the wider organisation and community services. The post holder will be involved in a number of outpatient pain clinics including our pain consultants, multidisciplinary team and nurse led. Our service provides and is involved in the following treatment pathways which the post holder will play an active role: Medication optimisation, including opioid reduction. Self-acupuncture course, the post holder will have the opportunity to promote, develop and assess patients for acupuncture as part of their role. Post pain procedures clinical reviews; including radio frequency and spinal cord stimulation assessment / education. Pain management programme (PMP) Develop and work innovatively to ensure the pain service is fit for the future. The post holder will also be involved in the provision of a 7-day pain service to the wards, critical care unit and other areas, including surgical, medical, emergency department, care of the elderly, women, and children services for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, working alongside the other nursing members and Pain Consultants of the team across multiple sites. Primary responsibility of the post holder will be clinical review of postsurgical and major trauma patients including but not limited to: Daily review of patients with epidural analgesia delivery systems Daily review of patients with continuous local anaesthetic delivery systems Daily review of patients with patient-controlled analgesia delivery systems Help and advice to the wards for other pain problems, reviewing more complex and persistent pain issues with the pain consultants and senior nursing team members.
